ABOUT “Buakkhang”
Buakkhang Subdistrict has a rich history tied to the Yao community and the over 500-year-old Wat Buakkhang. The temple was established during the reign of King Tilokarat and, after the conquest by the ruler of the Yao region during King Kawila’s era, Buakkhang became a key cultural hub. This community maintains its unique Yao cultural identity and traditions, making it an important center for cultural gatherings

1.To develop Buak Khang Subdistrict into “Buak Khang New Energy: Transform, Create, Develop, and Bring Happiness to the Community” by emphasizing the use of digital technology and innovation, and focusing on sustainable development with a Green Value Chain model.
2.To improve urban and community management, enhancing citizens’ quality of life, ensuring well-being, and using appropriate technology and innovation in line with Chachoengsao Province’s context, while efficiently utilizing available resources. The development focuses on five Smart City dimensions: Smart Environment, Smart Economy, Smart Governance, Smart People, and Smart Living.
3.To enhance work processes and services, promoting innovation and new businesses that add value to organizations and stakeholders.
CITY CONTEXT & NEEDS
Buakkhang is located in San Kamphaeng, Chiang Mai, with a geographic setting ideal for developing a smart city. The area combines the preservation of Yao cultural heritage with modern city development using digital technologies. The city aims to integrate these technologies to enhance the economy, tourism, and services, especially focusing on cultural tourism and high-tech agriculture. The key needs of the city include infrastructure upgrades, the development of smart services, and further promotion of its cultural tourism potential.
